The Hoya A-77Vdy-II 77mm Neutral Density ND3-ND400 Filter is a versatile and high-quality optical filter designed to reduce the amount of light entering your camera, enabling the use of slower shutter speeds and wider apertures in various photographic situations.
Crafted by Hoya, a renowned name in the world of photography and imaging, this filter ensures exceptional color fidelity and clarity, maintaining the original tone and contrast of your images while minimizing the effects of overexposure, glare, and reflections.
The filter's density range, spanning from ND3 (0.9 stops) to ND400 (10 stops), provides an extensive scope for creative control, making it ideal for a wide array of applications, from landscape and cityscape photography to long exposures, sunset and sunrise shoots, and even video production.
The Hoya A-77Vdy-II 77mm Neutral Density ND3-ND400 Filter is constructed from high-quality optical glass for superior image quality and durability. It features a multi-resistant coating on both sides, enhancing its resistance to scratches, water, oil, and dust, ensuring the filter stays in pristine condition for long-lasting use.
This filter is compatible with a 77mm lens thread and can be easily mounted and removed using a standard filter holder or adapter. With its precise optical properties, robust construction, and versatile density range, the Hoya A-77Vdy-II 77mm Neutral Density ND3-ND400 Filter is an essential tool for photographers and videographers seeking to elevate their creative potential and capture stunning, well-exposed images in challenging lighting conditions.
1. High-quality construction: Hoya is a renowned brand in the photography industry, known for its durable and high-quality filters. The A-77Vdy-II filter is no exception, offering a solid and reliable build.
2. Versatile density range: The ND3-ND400 density range allows for a wide variety of applications, from long exposures during the day to creative effects like motion blur or light trails.
3. Multi-coating for reduced reflections and ghosting: The multi-coating on the Hoya A-77Vdy-II filter helps minimize reflections and ghosting, ensuring clearer and sharper images.
4. Color neutrality: This filter is designed to maintain color neutrality, which is crucial for preserving the original colors of your images.
Cons:1. High price point: The Hoya A-77Vdy-II filter is on the pricier side, which may not be suitable for budget-conscious photographers.
2. Specific thread size: With a 77mm thread size, this filter may not be compatible with all lenses, potentially limiting its usability.
3. Potential vignetting: Due to its high density, there might be some vignetting (darkening of corners) when using this filter with wide-angle lenses.
4. Limited protection against scratches: While the filter provides some protection against scratches and damage, it does not offer the same level of protection as a protective UV filter.
Conclusion:The Hoya A-77Vdy-II 77mm Neutral Density ND3-ND400 filter offers a range of benefits for photographers, including high-quality construction, versatile density range, and color neutrality. However, its high price point and potential compatibility issues with lenses should be considered before making a purchase.
Recommendation:If you are a professional photographer or serious enthusiast who requires a high-quality, versatile neutral density filter, the Hoya A-77Vdy-II filter could be a worthwhile investment. However, if budget is a concern or you have a limited range of lenses, it might be more practical to consider a less expensive option or a protective UV filter instead. Always ensure the filter size is compatible with your lens before making a purchase.
This filter was lens mounted once and briefly used for about 90 minutes. Create motion blur of moving vehicles, trains, cars and people. Density guide markers on frame to show density range. Worked great as you'd expect.
HOYA 77mm Variable Neutral Density II filter in original packaging and MINT condition, including a spare knob as shown pic above. Create smooth motion effects in waterfalls, rivers, waves. Shoot wide open f1.2 in daylight without overexposure. I just don't have further need for it and am in the process of moving out equipment I'm not using.
